This course covers medication in dementia care. This course will teach you how to safely administer prescribed medication to residents and how to respond to the Resident who may refuse essential medication and look at alternative methods that can make pills, tablets and capsules easier to accept and digest. This course is supplementary aid, and should complement other training that you have previously undertaken AND your organisation's medication policy. By the end of this course, as the Nurse administering medication you would be able to: Follow the pre-check guidelines for medication Administer medication using delegation and supervision when required Make a monthly order from a pharmacy Respond appropriately to a resident who refuses to take their medication Administer their medication in an alternative way Make an informed decision about withholding medication.
